Astana Küni: LED at Ak Orda and a stage on the water

Year
2009
Place
The plaza at Ak Orda and the Esil channel, Astana
Shoot in the archive
4–5 July 2009
Archive

The next year's shoot at the same points around the city. Two wide LED walls carrying “Astana Küni” content stand in front of a lit Ak Orda, a blue canopy stage with an orchestra works on the river, and a line of pyrotechnic fountains fires from the water stage.

An archive page. We show what the photographs recorded, and we do not claim a scope of work that the sources do not support.

01 / What the frames show

The LED walls are set symmetrically on either side of the axis of the plaza and do not block the view of the building: the content works as a frame, not as a replacement for the facade. A second stage stands on the river under a canopy, with an orchestra and ornamental scenic panels. The pyrotechnics were fired from the water as a separate line of fountains, and doubled by fireworks over the river.

02 / How this project differs from the rest

This is the only shoot in the archive that dates and names itself: the screen reads “Astana Küni”, so the event is confirmed by the frame itself and not only by the camera metadata.
